Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has deboarded the plane after arriving at Stewart Air National Guard Base in New York, according to a federal official and footage from CNN affiliate WCBS.
The captured Venezuelan leader was seen wearing grey clothing, in handcuffs, while being escorted by more than a dozen federal agents wearing black, according to footage from CNN affiliate WCBS.
Maduro is now expected to be taken by helicopter to Manhattan, New York City, before being brought to the Metropolitan Detention Center, which has been home to several key figures in famous federal cases, such as Sean “Diddy” Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried.
Maduro is set to face drugs and weapons charges in Manhattan federal court next week.
